Crveni lav d.o.o. is an independent publishing house based in Zagreb, Croatia.
Crveni lav is building a carefully selected catalogue of international and original works spanning consciousness, human potential, psychology, science, spirituality, historical mysteries and the nature of reality.
We aim to bring significant works to readers through high-quality translation, editing and production. Our publishing programme begins with the Croatian market, with Serbian- and Slovenian-language editions forming part of our regional development strategy.
We are committed to building long-term relationships with authors, agents and international publishers, and to developing a catalogue in which quality, careful selection and the lasting value of a book take precedence over short-term trends.
FOUNDER & PUBLISHER
Ivan Varošanec
Before founding Crveni lav, Ivan Varošanec built his professional life in music as a pianist, piano professor and mentor to young musicians whose work has been recognised at international competitions across Europe and in Russia, the United States and the United Arab Emirates. His professional work includes performance, teaching, international masterclasses and advanced academic research in piano performance.
Alongside that public professional life, an equally important part of his journey for more than a decade has been the exploration of consciousness, spirituality, human potential and the deeper questions surrounding mind, creativity and the nature of reality. He has devoted a significant part of his time, study and personal resources to this exploration. What began as a personal search gradually became an important part of the way he understands learning, artistic development and life itself.
Crveni lav grew from the meeting of these two worlds.
Ivan founded the publishing house with the intention of approaching books in these fields with the same seriousness he has always brought to music: careful preparation, intellectual curiosity, respect for the source, high standards of translation and a belief that transformative ideas deserve to be presented with depth rather than simplification.
The aim of Crveni lav is not to represent a single school of thought, but to create a carefully curated publishing space for authors and ideas that invite readers to question, explore and expand their understanding of themselves and the world around them.
